Chapter 30 - Visiting Rymes
I tear open a crack in space and step through, arriving in the Realm of Gods and Demons.
POV: God King Rymes
So, it’s been hundreds of thousands of years since I first showed up in this so-called “paradise.” You might think that living in a paradise sounds like a dream come true, right? And yeah, it’s perfect—almost annoyingly so.
If you’re hungry, food just appears. If you’re craving pleasure, it’s at your fingertips. Want some alone time? No problem. You get exactly what you want, whenever you want it.
Sounds great, but the problem is, it’s way too perfect. There’s no unpredictability, no surprises. The daily routine never changes: wake up, bathe, eat, chill, get your kicks—whether it’s a massage, some intimate time, or just the satisfaction of finishing something—then dinner and off to bed. It’s a never-ending cycle of perfect monotony.
That was until we stumbled upon something that was actually different—a far cry from the endless white sandy beaches and turquoise waters. We discovered planets covered in barren landscapes, with hot, glowing semi-liquids bubbling up from the earth. Yeah, let’s just say it was a stark contrast to our usual “paradise.” (And sorry for the graphic details; it’s just that I’m so bored and lonely, I had to spice things up a bit.)
Finding these new planets was a big deal for us. We felt a rush of achievement, like we’d finally done something meaningful. We’d broken out of the monotony of paradise. It was our chance to explore something new, something that wasn’t just another perfect bubble.
But, of course, that excitement didn’t last long. The real hell began soon after. We got caught up in a war with the inhabitants of these planets. These weren’t your friendly neighbors—they were humanoid creatures with all sorts of shapes and forms. Some were beastly and seemed to only exist to kill.
What made it even worse for us Gods was this overwhelming, gut-wrenching hatred we felt towards these creatures. It was as if the hate was embedded in our very souls. We’d never felt anything like it before; hate doesn’t exist in a perfect paradise.
This hatred was so intense it was almost unbearable. Looking at these creatures made us want to tear them apart. Oddly enough, the hatred was mutual. The creatures seemed to hate us just as fiercely. It was like we were destined to be enemies.
Fast forward to now, and the war has been dragging on for several eras, or in other words, a few hundred thousand years. Surprisingly, most of us Gods have come to prefer the chaos of the battlefield over the boredom of paradise. The battlefield is where we can finally let loose all the stress, anger, and frustration we’ve built up over the eons.
But of course, even in the middle of war, not everything can be predictable.
