Chapter 49: Final Move
William glanced to the side of the arena and, seeing a nod, grinned savagely. From now on, he wouldn’t be held responsible—his father would take all the blame.
He was confident. One move was all it would take.
Suddenly, William stopped retreating. Golden light burst from him in a frenzy, forming a large crescent blade in front of him. Despite his anger, he hadn’t lost his composure. He sent the glowing mass straight toward Fang’s throat, the pressure from the energy overwhelming and undeniably lethal.
Fang found himself in a difficult position. Not only did he have to worry about the approaching blade, but William could attack during the delay between his techniques. Until now, Fang had been able to counter William’s moves perfectly, but this time, there was no easy option. Even if he tried to resist, his energy level was far too low compared to William’s.
The crowd grew silent. No one had expected William to have a trump card like this.
Blue’s face turned pale. She hadn’t thought William could form and direct a technique that played so perfectly to the strengths of his energy. With the sharpness of that energy, if Fang didn’t counter it somehow, all that would be left of him would be a bloody mess!
But instead of trying to escape with Shadow Step, Fang stood his ground.
The sword flew closer and closer, ominous in its advance.
William smirked. It looked like Fang was desperately trying to counter the attack, but William knew it would break through anything Fang could muster.
"Fool, you should've moved..." Blue’s voice trailed off, her eyes widening.
All the energy surrounding Fang vanished.
Had he run out of energy?
Slowly, Fang raised his hands, and energy began to flicker again, except this time, it was dazzling. The crowd held their breath, watching Fang concentrate. But even if he had a higher-level technique, it couldn’t possibly compare to William’s secret skill.
A single ball of energy appeared behind Fang.
At this level, using such a simple energy ball in a critical moment seemed a sure path to defeat. Despite that, it shot toward William.
*Ping!*

The sword sliced through the energy ball effortlessly.
Nothing happened. The golden light continued to accelerate.
But then, another ball of energy appeared behind Fang. And another, and another...
Within moments, the air around Fang was filled with circles of light.
He waved his hands down.
The sword valiantly cut through the second, third, fourth, and fifth energy balls, but with each strike, it dimmed, losing momentum.
The sixth sphere hit, and the sword no longer held its previous force. Yet, it wasn’t over.
The seventh, eighth, and more energy orbs followed. Although each sphere was individually weak, there were too many. Every time the light exploded against the sword, it dulled further.
The crowd watched in awe, their eyes tracking the lights like stars falling from the sky. This was no ordinary barrage of energy balls—it was happening too quickly.
Despite the relentless bursts of energy, the golden sword still remained, though much weakened. William’s technique had been greatly reduced, but on the other side, Fang had halted his assault. Thanks for reading on ManaNovel!
It seemed Fang had run out of energy.
Noticing this, William’s grim expression lightened. It would take just one more blow to finish Fang. His face contorted slightly in pain, but William motioned the sword forward. Slowly, yet surely, the golden blade advanced toward Fang.
Desperate cries echoed through the arena. But Fang remained calm, unfazed. He concentrated once more.
Unlike the earlier barrage, a heavy pressure settled over the arena as energy from the previous explosions spiraled toward Fang.
Rapidly, the gathered energy coalesced into a horrifying mass of light above him. In a freefall, the large meteor shook the air as it crashed down, tearing through the golden sword.
Fear filled William’s eyes as he looked helplessly at the incoming destructive force.
There was nothing he could do.
*Boom!*
The ground shook, and an ear-splitting explosion echoed through the arena. The impact sent William flying, bouncing across the floor and skidding to a halt over half the arena. He finally stopped, twitching.
Immediately, the referee leapt between Fang and William, keeping them apart.
"Ten, nine, eight, seven..." The countdown began, in accordance with the rules. But in reality, the referee was deliberately hindering Fang by dragging it out.
If it were Fang on the ground, the referee would have called the match instantly.
"Six, five..."
But there was no response from William.
He couldn’t speak. He couldn’t move.
Desperately, William tried to rise, the last remnants of his broken energy flickering from his body. He managed to raise one weak arm, and a cheer rose from Class Two—only to fall silent as his arm collapsed.
Blood sprayed from William’s mouth, pooling on the ground. The outcome was clear, and medical attention was urgently needed.
Reluctantly, the referee declared the result.
"Winner, Fang!"
The crowd erupted into applause, shaking off their stupor. No one had expected the fight to end like this.
Before the match began, Fang’s classmates had hoped he would at least show his skills and preserve their pride. But no one had anticipated him defeating the top class in such a stunning upset.
"He won! Our class won!"
"Ha! No one will dare look down on us again!"
"Everyone was wrong. The lowest class isn’t weaker than the others. We were put here because we just had a slow start!"
Meanwhile, the crowd began discussing Fang’s final move, mysterious as it was.
"What was that final technique? It was so powerful."
"Yeah, it broke through William’s highest-tier skill, even though it was infused with the metal element. That shouldn’t have been possible."
"It looked like Fang’s technique was more advanced than anything an intermediate fighter should be able to use."
"What do you think...? Could it be?"
"Right, it’s possible he used *that* skill, but even then, that would make it a 4th-grade technique..."
The rumors spread like wildfire through the crowd. Few believed it, but it was the only explanation that made sense.
And they were right.
The technique was *Meteor*.
It wasn’t fully mastered yet, but through his intense studies, Fang had derived an even stronger version—*Meteor Shower*.
The technique sacrificed all the user’s energy to launch a barrage of small energy meteors. Using the residue from the barrage, the user could then gather the energy into one final, devastating attack. Nothing at the same level could stand against it, as its oppressive power had just shown.
Months of effort had paid off, culminating in Fang’s mastery of this incredibly tyrannical technique!
