Chapter 118: I am not KY. I am KYB
Chapter 118: I am not KY. I am KYB
The first impression I get from the exterior of the ruins is something familiar. The appearance of a library. Only, it’s twice as large.
Although it’s somewhat different from the image of a [mysterious ruins], the outer walls are covered by moss and ivy, projecting the passage of time it endured.
.
We finally made our way to the front of the ruins but its gate is locked. As this area is under the management of the country, entering without permission would be equal to trespassing.
「Excuse me, I will go and report to the soldier in charge.」
Papeto trots to a building the size of a house beside the ruins. The exterior is peeled off in some places but it still looks newer than the ruins. I guess that’s the quarters for the manager here.
When Papeto knocks on its door, a soldier at the prime of his life came out. I think he’s the manager. Papeto then takes out a piece of paper from his pocket and the manager nods as if reaching an understanding after looking at it.
Both of them are now approaching us. After the manager sends a slight bow at our direction, he then proceeds to unlock the gate before heading back to his residence.
While seeing off his back, I speak to Papeto.
「Are you familiar with the manager?」
「I have been to the ruins here a number of times. Besides, one cannot delve into this job if they are not friendly with the manager of the place they would be showing around now, can they?」
「By the way, I wanna ask, how many times have you brought the boy Marito?」
「This is the first time…」
「Even so, he’s much calmer than our ojou-sama.」
Faima’s eyes are sparkling. She looks ready to charge into the ruins any second now.
Did it tickle her intellectual curiosity so much that it’s just a step away from going wild?
This work is hosted on mananovel.com
She’s showing a far more childish reaction compared to Marito, who’s a few years her junior.
「He had undergone a thorough instruction in various topics concerning this ruins. Perhaps the lessons have yet to lose their freshness.」
「I see……」
I nod while putting a hand on my chin.
.
Some time later.
Reinforcements from the Genryuu Knights and the Tenryuu Knights had to wait outside the ruins as the rest of us set foot inside. The entrance leads to a large lobby and just like the exterior wall, it made me feel the passage of time.
「Unfortunately, most of the materials preserved in the ruins are currently being stored in the treasury of Draknil Imperial Palace. Nevertheless, there are still murals depicting scenes of bygone days. I shall explain the ruins in detail while guiding you there.」
「Please do!」
……Faima’s acting different than usual is definitely not my imagination. Look, she’s even grasping both her hands tightly, as if she’s psyching herself before heading to a battlefield. Thanks for reading on ManaNovel!
Just what are you going to fight in there?
Me and Chloe, plus Kakurd and Skelia are confused at Faima’s transformation but her three original escorts are calm. Is that the default mode of their ojou-sama?
「What happened to Faima-dono de gozaru ka?」
「Nothing more than reaching the limit of her curiosity while breaking her character along the way. It’s best not to think about it deeply.」
While we’re talking nonsense, Papeto began to walk ahead while giving a detailed explanation about the ruins. I hurriedly follow after him to avoid being left behind but he stops immediately.
「First, please have a look here.」
A huge wall lies on the opposite side of the entrance but this is no doubt, a [mural].
「Today, many nations practice the Heavenly God Faith. However, in the age of the First Emperor, Diagal had its own religion. This is a mural based on that [legend].」
In the center of it is a humanoid figure with a halo atop its head and wings on the back. On its left side, a large number of people are prostrating. Dragons are on the opposite side, with the same posture.
「Although we say unique, most of its belief are not much different to that of Heavenly God Faith. If there is a difference, it is the fact that [dragons] were included.」
「Dragons were also mentioned in documents archived at the library of the Imperial Palace. Despite being a magic beast, [dragons] were a good neighbor to the dragonkin living within Diagal and received their respect and affection.」
Papeto nods in satisfaction to Faima’s words.
「Dragons are believed to be magic beast, albeit one with the [blessing of God]. This mural is believed to be a representation of God’s great blessing upon man and dragon.」
ーーToday, most people living in Diagal believe in Heavenly God Faith, as they do in other countries around the world. This is because the [God] who [bestows blessings] from both religion is considered to be the same existence. Everyone present look up the mural deep in emotion as they listen to Papeto’s explanation.
I’m the only one frowning.
「……Why are you having a difficult face, big brother? Is there anything wrong? Do you have any question on father’s explanation?」
Hearing the voice of Marito by my side, I rub off the wrinkles between my brows.
「No, I’m not familiar enough with the history of this country to find any flaw in your father’s explanation.」
「But there are things bothering you, right?」
「Well, it’s probably my inner rebellious self showing disapproval towards everyone present by frowning……」
I’m not someone who can’t read the air{KY}.
I’m just someone who would love to call out to (Y) those up in the sky (K) and (B)eat the crap out of em2.
Even so, I still have the common sense to behave according to TPO.
「By the way, this mural is saying [dragons and man are grateful for God’s blessing], isn’t it?」
「……That is how historians interpret it. That part is similar to the teachings of the Heavenly God Faith, thus I think it is not mistaken.」
It certainly looks that way. Rather, it might be natural to arrive at that conclusion.
But when I saw this mural without any preconception, what bothered me was the [eyes] of the prostrating dragons.
Strangely enough, I can’t see those [eyes] harboring any form of respect for God.
On the contrary, I got the impression of them scowling at their sworn enemy while prostrating on the ground.
