Chapter 25: Everybody, attack!

Chapters
Approx. 7min reading time

It has been two weeks since I decided to teach my classmates the ‘Null Element’. It has been rather peaceful on our side, and we haven’t seen any magic students for a while now. I’ve also been waiting for Eclara to report back to me. Sadly, she hasn’t returned since the first day, so I’ve become worried about her.

As a result, Vertical Rolls, three of her acquaintances, and I were up in the sky, heading towards the Magic Students Building. Although I wanted Emilia, Mary, and Victoria to come, they were still busy teaching some students who were having a hard time.

“Lumina-sama, something is happening over there.”

I shifted my gaze to where Vertical Rolls pointed and saw four groups of people facing off against each other. We became curious, so we increased our altitude and went to the scene.

Upon arrival, I was quite shocked to see thirteen people standing at the center of the gathering. I created a mana screen to help us see closer and observed them.

“So, Carlos-sama, Pax-sama, Maxwell-sama, and Ciel-sama, can you tell us why we are all here?”

A blonde-haired boy, who looked like a girl, asked the four people wearing different-colored cloaks. I recognized the one in the blue cloak; if I’m correct, he was Carlos-sama. Realizing who he was, I looked at Vertical Rolls with concern.

Her shoulders quivered slightly as she met my gaze. She then showed me a smile and nodded. I breathed out a sigh and returned my focus to the screen. Beside the girly boy, I saw Eclara standing next to him.

“As you should know, ever since Carlos was defeated by that ‘thing’, the students of this school have become confused. As a result, conflicts between factions have ensued during and after school for days now. We, the heirs of the most influential families of the kingdom, have decided to eliminate the source of the confusion and conflict.”

The person with red hair and a red cloak pointed at the person standing beside the girly boy. He had black hair and wore a plain white uniform with dark pants. He was the protagonist.

“Wawawa!”

The girly boy began panicking and flailed her arms around.

“Try me if you can. Nishishi.”

The protagonist started laughing while Eclara sighed.

Removing my gaze from the mana screen, I turned to the boys who were silently watching the mana screen behind me. I then pointed to the three people wearing the red, yellow, and green cloaks.

“Do you know these three?”

“Yes.”

The boy with blue hair flew closer and said, “The one wearing the red cloak is Pax Karmerot-sama, the one whom Achil was supposed to serve.”

(Since he has red hair?)

(… Let’s not comment on that.)

“The one wearing the yellow cloak is Maxwell Fenyes Sarga-sama, while the one with the green cloak is Ciel Vertpur.”

I looked at the mana screen and observed Maxwell. He had golden blonde hair and blue eyes. He wore a sardonic smile as he stared at Eclara. Beside him was the one in the green cloak. Ciel had olive green hair and eyes. Unlike Maxwell, Ciel was scowling as he stared at the girly boy.

“Hmm… I remember that you six were supposed to serve the four most influential families. Since you know them, which means…”

“Yes. They were supposed to be the masters we served.”

“Hmmm… Is that so?”

The boy with blue hair made a wry smile and nodded. He then went back to the two. Vertical Rolls moved closer to me and whispered, “Do you know him, Lumina-sama?”

Vertical Rolls was pointing at the boy with the blue hair behind me.

“O-of course I do… He’s Frank, right?”

“Then do you know who Achil is?”

“The one with red hair.”

“Then how about the last one?”

“…. Ummm…”

I hung my head in shame as I urged Vertical Rolls to answer me.

“He’s Anthony, Lumina-sama.”

“Really?”

“Yes.”

I then focused my gaze back on the mana screen and ignored Vertical Rolls, who mumbled, ‘Lumina-sama really is bad with names.’

“You bastard!”

A boy, who was a head shorter than Pax-sama, brandished a sword of fire and lunged towards the protagonist.

“Ooh, getting hot-blooded, aren’t we? Then…”

The protagonist began to chant a spell.

(Hmm… The magic students have teachers, right? Is it okay for them to skip classes like this?)

When the protagonist finished his chant, a large broadsword of fire appeared in his hand and clashed with the short boy's sword.

“Tch… Everybody, attack!”

Pax-sama then shouted, and almost all of the students in the area began chanting spells.

“Hahaha! You think I’ll allow them? <Shockwave>”

The protagonist muttered a word and stomped his feet on the ground. The earth trembled from his stomp, causing almost all the students to fall down.

“Eclara! Take Michelle and get as far away as possible!”

“Hmph!”

Eclara then flew into the sky while towing the girly boy. From the screen, the five of us could see a thin layer of mana covering Eclara’s body. She was using ‘Null Element’ magic to escape.

(Hmm… Why does this scene look familiar? Eclara flying away… and the protagonist getting left behind…)

“No, you don’t!”

The twins who looked like Vertical Rolls followed them quickly and shot six water lances.

“Futile.”

Eclara created a wall of fire between them and evaporated the six lances.

“Don’t think it’s finished! Urraah!”

Two large water serpents suddenly appeared from a magic circle and pursued Eclara.

“Krisha… Misha…”

Vertical Rolls suddenly started mumbling beside me. I removed my sight from the battle and asked her a question.

“Do you know those two?”

“… They’re my twin siblings from a different mother.”

“Your siblings?”

“Yes.”

“Hmmm… Is that so? No wonder they also have Vertical Rolls.”

“Armes.”

While we were talking, we heard Eclara mutter a name as she ran away. Moments later, a huge red magic circle appeared in the air. None of us recognized what it was or what it was for, so we focused on the magic circle.

“Wow!”

I exclaimed the moment something emerged from the magic circle. It was a small red dragon.

<Fire Dragon>

As the five of us were taken aback by the appearance of the red dragon, Eclara finished chanting a spell and summoned a fire dragon. The two dragons then engaged with the two water serpents in the air.

“Wawawawa!”

All the while, the girly boy continued to scream.

“““““…”””””

The five of us gave the girly boy a look of pity as he was dragged around in the sky by Eclara.

“Come on! Try hitting me! Hahaha!”

I shifted my gaze to the land and found that the one who was laughing was the protagonist.

He ran along the ground at an unbelievable speed while hundreds of magic spells chased after him.

(He’s really overpowered, huh? I wish I were like that…)

He suddenly turned around and slammed his hand on the ground. In that instant, a huge wall appeared before him. The spells crashed into the wall and crumbled down.

“Oops.”

The protagonist jumped away from the wall and into the air.

“I was waiting for that!”

The one with the yellow cloak shouted as earth spikes appeared from the ground and headed towards the protagonist.

“Fall down.”

The man with the green cloak spoke in a low tone, and a whirlwind hit the protagonist, pushing him down towards the earth spikes.

Eclara, who noticed the protagonist’s situation, became distracted. People suddenly appeared behind her and shot her with magic.

“Kuuuh!”

“Eclara-san!”

Eclara’s clothes were ripped in some places as we watched her fall. The girly boy screamed her name while trying to grab Eclara’s hand.

“Ehhh?”

The girly boy had a confused look as they stopped in mid-air and started flying away. I was the one who stopped them. I created a mana floor beneath them and had it fly towards us.

“Anthony, go back to the school and get 30 students to come here. Tell them that we may have to fight against the magic students.”

(Well, it's not like we're hiding it or anything. The only reason they haven’t found us is because none of them bothered to go to our building. Besides, we’re bound to be found out sooner or later. So there’s nothing wrong with showing this to them.)

“Lumina-sama?”

“Hurry!”

“Yes!”

The man with silver hair condensed the mana around him and flew towards the general student’s building. As he flew, a random thought flashed in my mind: ‘He’s Anthony? Gotta remember that.’

“Are you going to fight against them, Lumina-sama?”

“I know it’s quite rash, but I can’t just sit around and observe while someone I know is getting hurt.”

Vertical Rolls’ eyes showed concern as she stared at me. As Eclara and the girly boy flew closer, I faced the three servants who came with me.

“I don’t know if any of you know those who are pursuing Eclara, but I’m going to fight them here. If there is someone or a relative among them, I won’t force you to fight. You can just fly higher and leave this place.”

Those words were aimed at Vertical Rolls. I didn’t want to force her to fight against her siblings. From the screen, we could see that her

half-siblings were among those chasing Eclara.

“My little sister is among them, Lumina-sama. And as long as you order it, I’ll fight against her.”

Surprisingly, the first to react was the boy with blue hair.

(He’s Frank… right?)

“Since the night I swore to you, I have resolved myself to even kill my elder brother.”

The one with red hair made a savage smile and said some scary words.

(Wait, so Achil was the one who made that ominous statement a few weeks back!? Gotta be careful with him.)

“I’m your servant and also your friend, Lumina-sama. So even if I’m up against Carlos-sama and my sisters, I’ll still fight against them.”

(I’m touched, Vertical Rolls. I’m sorry for calling you Vertical Rolls. I’m going to call you by your name again… what was it? Ummm…)

“They’re almost here.”

While I was busy trying to remember Vertical Rolls' name, Frank quickly alerted me.

“Then fire the first salvo!”

<<Fireball!>>

A small fireball appeared before Achil and Vertical Rolls.

<Waterball!>

As for Frank, two small balls of water appeared beside him.

Mana congregated in their hands, and the moment it was enough, they slammed their hands on the fireballs and waterballs, either with a fist or a palm strike. The fireball quickly became a large wave of fire flying towards the students pursuing Eclara. The waterballs turned into a long stream of water that moved through the air like a snake.

They were controlling it with Null Element magic, so I was confident it wouldn't result in friendly fire.

As for me, I created a waterball, a fireball, a wind ball, and a floating piece of rock. I then had them crash into multiple layers of mana walls, making them stronger.

In my mind, I was making a speech...

[Water, Earth, Fire, Air.

Long ago, the general students lived together in harmony, but everything changed the moment Eclara was attacked…]

Who could blame me? I mean, the way Achil, Frank, and Vertical Rolls moved kind of reminded me of ‘The Avatar’. What’s more, since it was easier to control the magic we fired by moving our bodies, it felt even more like ‘The Avatar’. Though we only did this if the distance was quite far.

“What the?”

“Huh?”

“They have friends?”

“There are still people willing to help them!?”

The eight people simultaneously fired magic towards the spells we had cast. Since our magic was no match against theirs in direct confrontation, the three of us moved our hands and changed its direction to evade it.

“What in the world are those guys!?”

Bang*

A cloud of dust appeared in the sky as our magic collided with theirs.

“Yep… Kinda like ‘The Avatar’.”

“Lumina-sama?”

“Ahh, nothing. My mind was just wandering.”

“Haaa…”

Vertical Rolls tilted her head as she tried to remember what I said.

“It’s nothing, okay. So don’t worry about it.”

I walked closer to her and patted her head. She gave me a bright smile and nodded with a very happy expression.

As for the boys, they were raising their hands high up in the air while laughing.
