Level 1 Strongest Sage

Chapter 72 - Monarch of Glendale & Elder Brother

Index

We won this month’s battle safely, and the classroom was still ours to keep.

We held our customary celebration in the central city, and on another day, I treated Ryuushin and Merdie to a high-end restaurant. With that, the days passed by quickly.

Finally, Tina, Leaffa, and my wedding reception are set for the day after tomorrow.

We’re still at the academy today, but since the reception will be held at the Silveray mansion, we need to return home tomorrow.

All my classmates have said they will attend the reception.

As I was preparing for the return trip to our residence tomorrow, a visitor arrived.

I was near the entrance, so I stepped out to welcome them.

“Oh, Halt, it’s been a while. You’ve grown!”

“Y-Your Majesty!”

The King of Glendale was standing outside when I opened the door.

I quickly knelt.

I’ve known the King of Glendale since he was still a prince. I met him several times when Father, being a Count, took me with him on trips to the Royal Castle.

“Halt, don’t be so uneasy. Come on, stand up. I had your eldest brother bring me to you today.”

“It’s been a while, Halt. How have you been?”

My eldest brother, Cain, stepped out from behind the king.

“Elder Brother Cain, it’s nice to see you again. I’m doing fine, just as you see.”

Cain is a member of the kingdom’s Order of Chivalry, but apparently, he has been very busy lately, so we haven’t had the chance to see each other.

“By the way, Your Majesty, what brings you here today? If you had any concerns, I would have come to you.”

“I heard that the younger brother of the Captain of the Imperial Guards is getting married. I came to offer my well wishes. Is it unusual for me to drop by and extend my congratulations?”

“T-Thank you very much.”

Hmm? The younger brother of the Captain of the Imperial Guards?

Wait, don’t tell me—

“Excuse me, but… Elder Brother, are you the Captain of His Majesty’s Imperial Guards?”

“Yeah, I’ve been promoted.”

“Our ages are close enough, so it’s easier for us to converse. That’s why I appointed him to the position. I have no doubts about his ability.”

My big brother has been promoted significantly, and I didn’t even know about it.

I thought he was just a member of the Order of Chivalry, but it turns out he’s now the Captain of the Imperial Guards. It’s a prestigious position requiring great skill and social standing.

Well, Big Bro is excellent with a sword and quite popular, so I assumed he’d become a knight commander eventually. But I was still surprised to learn he is now the Captain of the Imperial Guards.

“Elder Brother, congratulations on your promotion. You could have told us.”

“Thanks. Sorry about that; I’ve been quite busy.”

“I also apologize. Cain has been preoccupied with escorting me. He’s a serious guy and didn’t even plan to congratulate his younger brother on his wedding.”

“Eh, then…”

“Yes, the reason I came here is to have Cain escort me and bring him here at all costs.”

Wow, this is unexpected.

I feel like I’ve caused them some trouble.

“Of course, we will also attend the reception the day after tomorrow.”

“Eh?”

“I heard that your partner is the Heroine Tina and the princess of Alheim. This is the wedding of the person who protected the world. Not to mention, the princess of another kingdom is marrying a noble of my country. Naturally, I must celebrate this occasion.”

“T-That may be so.”

“By the way, I have already informed the House of Silveray about my attendance.”

What on earth?

It seems the King of Glendale’s presence at our reception is already set in stone.

Our reception party is turning into something huge.

“Halt-sama, is something the matter? Ah, Your Majesty.”

Tina came to check on me.

Tina is also acquainted with the monarch of Glendale.

“Oh, Tina. You’re as gorgeous as ever. Congratulations on your marriage to Halt. I’m exceedingly glad that a Heroine like you is now joining with a citizen of my beloved country.”

“Thank you very much.”

Tina bowed deeply.

Shortly after Tina arrived, Leaffa came to check on us as well.

“Halt, who are these people?”

“This is His Majesty, the King of Glendale. My elder brother is standing behind him.”

“Oh! I am Leaffa, the former Second Princess of the Alheim Kingdom.”

Leaffa curtsied gracefully.

As expected of former royalty, it was so natural.

“I’m the King of Glendale. I heard that Apristos attacked Alheim recently, so I’m relieved to see that you’re all safe.”

“We are grateful for your concern. Halt, Tina-sama, and everyone from Ifrus Academy of Magic assisted us.”

“I have been informed. I received Leaves of Yggdrasil from the King of Alheim as tokens of gratitude and friendship. I intend to maintain good relations with Alheim as our allied country moving forward.”

“Such gracious words.”

“You’ve also done well, Halt. You’ve formed a strong friendship with Alheim. From here on, continue that friendship and ensure Leaffa’s happiness.”

“Yes, I will.”

It seemed the King had said his piece, so he took his Imperial Guards and prepared to return to the palace.

Cain would stay a while longer to talk with us before he left.

Cain, as the monarch’s escort, was supposed to return to the palace with the king, but the king insisted that he have a bit more time with us before going back. The Imperial Guards supported this, so Cain stayed.

I led him to the drawing room.

“Hmm, what’s this?”

Shiro was sleeping on the sofa in the drawing room. I hadn’t seen him since morning.

“It’s Shiro, my pet.”

“Somehow, I feel it’s not an ordinary dog, but… No way, isn’t that a Divine Beast?”

Eh, how did he know?

Oh, in that case, my elder sister Charles possesses a cheat skill called mind-reading, and Cain is rumored to have even more varied talents than her, so it’s not surprising he has some sort of ability.

“Big Bro, can you see auras?”

“No, rather, it’s intuition.”

“Don’t tell me… Is that a skill?”

“Oh! Nice going, Halt. It’s a skill called [Extreme Intuition].”

So he really does have a cheat skill.

What’s up with the House of Silveray?

In that case, my second elder brother might also possess some kind of aptitude.

“Master, it’s about the clothes for tomorrow—oh, we have a guest.”

Youko entered the drawing room while looking for me.

“N-Nine-tailed fox!? What’s a demon doing here!?”

Wow, as expected from such sharp intuition. He instantly recognized Youko’s true identity.

“Big Bro, she’s my contracted demon, so there’s nothing to worry about.”

“W-What nonsense are you spouting!? That’s a nine-tailed fox!”

It seems he doesn’t believe me…

“Halt-sama, it’s about tomorrow—Ah, excuse us.”

At an inopportune moment, Mai and Mei also entered the drawing room.

“And now there are two high-level Spirits!? What’s going on here!”

After that, I explained to Cain how my family has grown to this extent.

Of course, since I can’t hide anything from my highly intuitive big brother, I also revealed that I’m a reincarnated person.

To be honest, it seems Cain had already known I was a reincarnated person for a while, thanks to his super keen intuition.
