Chapter 295 - Hero and the Academy of Magic

Index

Akari and Tet crossed the kingdom’s borders and entered Glendale.

Their goal was to reach the royal capital of this kingdom, where the H&T Corporation headquarters was located, but first, they decided to stop by the Ifrus Academy of Magic.

Akari’s interest was piqued when Tet told her that the magical academy was here. She wanted to see how the school of this world looked like.

“Whoa! This is amazing, Tet.”

Although it was an academy, it was like a city on its own. Akari’s eyes sparkled in amazement.

The Ifrus Academy of Magic was the largest school of magic in terms of the number of students.

There were many professors and researchers, and if the staff of establishments and shops meant to support the students were included, the total would be more than a few ten thousand people.

A few other countries also had magical academies, but most of them were built in a corner of the city.

“This is the entrance, right? Will it be alright if we go inside?”

There were no guards in sight at the magic academy’s entrance, unlike in Apristos and Alheim.

“Entrance is probably unrestricted.”

“Are you sure… Hmm, you’re probably right. There’s no one there, after all.”

The gates and walls surrounding the magic academy had been enchanted with a spell. Only those who had undergone procedures and formalities and had registered their magical wavelengths were allowed entry to the academy grounds. No one else could enter.

This spell was casted by no other than the Sage Luarno Vell Ifrus, the headmaster of this magic academy.

They were sure that nobody would be able to go past this magical inspection, so there were no guards stationed at the gate.

By the way, Halt ensured that outsiders like Seira, Elmia, Kikyou, Lielle and Hinata registered their magic wavelengths first outside the academy’s premises before he brought them into his residence for the first time. Unregistered people would be thrown out of the academy even if teleportation within the academy was attempted.

If Halt so wanted, he could easily destroy this magical detection. However, doing so would alert Luarno that his spell had been broken. Thus, it would be impossible even for Halt to bring outsiders into the school without Luarno knowing.

However—

“Ehehe. Oh dear, it feels like I’m a student of the magical academy now.”

She managed to step into the academy without feeling any kind of resistance at all.

Akari didn’t forcefully break the spell that would expel all trespassers.

Because of her wish to ‘enter this academy’, the <Skill Master> skill activated <Create Magic>, allowing her to create a spell that would deceive the magic that could detect outsiders.

It was a bizarre incident of a skill using another skill to create a spell that would trick another spell.

Akari and Tet were blissfully unaware of what just occurred, of course.

“Tet, look! The uniforms of the mages look so cool!”

Akari had unwittingly headed towards the center of the academy, so she was able to spot students wearing the academy’s uniform.

“Akari, wanna wear that too?”

“Yup.”

Akari started thinking that she would like to enroll in an academy of this world after defeating the Demon King.

She was currently donned in an outfit befitting of a town girl of this world while roaming the academy, and yet not a single professor or student called out to her.

The rest days in the academy were held on different days depending on the class. A lot of students wore their casual clothes while going around the academy during their rest day, so there were no reason for them to be on guard against Akari.

Everyone in the academy knew that no outsiders would be able to trespass into the academy’s premises, so it was only natural for anyone who saw Akari leisurely going around to assume that she was also part of the academy.

And so, Akari reached the Central without a hitch.

“Akari, Akari! A lot of things smell really great!!”

Tet was excited.

Akari’s nose was also assaulted by the delicious aroma of bread being baked.

“Seems tasty, right, Tet.”

“Yep. Let’s eat something over there.”

Tet pointed to the bakeshop that was especially popular even within the Central.

“Hm, I also want to eat, but our funds…”

Akari and Tet were penniless.

They possessed eight pieces of items that had above World Grade level, and they were worth a fortune, but they couldn’t even exchange them for money.

“N-No way…”

The money that Eliza gave her had been almost used up from buying their daily food and necessities.

“Then, then, how about exchanging one of the items, just one, with bread?”

“Eh?”

Tet had been tempted sorely by the fragrant bread’s scent so she proposed such an outrageous thing.

If it was the usual, Akari wouldn’t give in to such an idiotic proposal, but —

“T-That might be…great.”

They had been walking for a long time, so they were hungry.

Besides, Akari already experienced bartering things with Leaffa back in Alheim, so she was no longer afraid of offering her item in exchange of another thing in return.

Eliza told her that her items were above World Grade level, but Akari thought there wouldn’t be any problem if the receiving end would use it like a normal accessory.

“U-Uhm, excuse me!”

“Yes, how may I help you?”

Two girls left the bakery right on cue, so Akari called out to them.

They were clutching huge sacks stuffed with bread.

“Sorry for being rude. I-I don’t have any money, so… If it’s alright with you, can I barter this for a few pieces of bread?”

Akari showed the brooch she made to the beautiful girl with blue hair tied in a ponytail.

“Whoa! It’s very beautiful. Did you make this?”

“Yes, I did. Uhm, is it no good?”

“It’s fine. Ah, but this bread is for my entire family’s breakfast, so I can only exchange it for four buns. Will that be alright with you?

“Y-Yes! That totally works. Thank you very much!”

And so, the item said to be beyond World Grade had been exchanged for 4 pieces of bread.

“Ah, but I shouldn’t be deciding this on my own. I’m not the only one assigned for breakfast duty tomorrow, so…”

So saying, Luna, the azure-haired girl, turned to look behind her.

“Can I give four pieces of bread to this girl?”

Luna the girl that was assigned for kitchen duty with her tomorrow whether they could exchange the bread with the brooch.

“Sitri.”
