Chapter 298: Tina’s Proposal

Index

“Halt-sama, there is something I wish to discuss with you. Are you free at this moment?”

Akari had visited the H&T Corporation earlier that day. Now, in the evening, Halt was relaxing in his mansion when Tina approached him.

“Yeah. What’s up?”

“Please take a look at these first.”

Tina placed seven accessories she had bought from Akari on the table in front of Halt.

“Whoa. I can sense some strong power from them.”

“Yes. All of them are Legend-grade items.”

“Legend-grade... so they're on par with the bracelets I gave everyone?”

“Indeed.”

Tina had previously appraised the bracelets Halt had given to his family members, and they had turned out to be Legend-grade as well. These bracelets had extraordinary functions, like enabling communication between their owners, acting as teleportation markers, and storing high-class magic spells like the Flaming Knights.

“So, what’s the deal with these?”

“The person who brought them to me was none other than a young girl, barely more than a child.”

Although Akari was 15 years old in this world, she retained her appearance from her former life. In this world, humans were considered adults at 15, with a physique to match. But Akari was short to begin with, so to Tina, she still appeared as a child.

“I believe we should take this girl under our protection.”

Tina had learned that Akari was an orphan. The girl had told her she created items to sell and planned to travel with Tet using the money she earned.

“Protection? Why? She’s a child who can craft Legend-grade items, right?”

There were many orphans in this world. Many children lost their parents due to wars between kingdoms or were killed by monsters.

Halt and the House of Ernol had exterminated monsters on a global scale, but that didn’t mean all disasters could be eradicated. Furthermore, Halt had a policy of staying out of wars unless he or his family were directly involved.

He supported orphans through the H&T Corporation, but he didn’t believe he could save every orphan in the world. He would do what he could within his limits. However, he saw no need to intervene in the lives of those who were capable of managing their own affairs.

A girl who could craft Legend-grade items seemed more than capable of surviving on her own, without his help. No matter how much he wanted to, he knew he couldn’t save everyone. His experiences as the Guardian Hero had driven this lesson home.

“She’s far too dangerous to be left alone, in my opinion. I happened to be her client this time, but if other merchants discover her true potential, it won’t be long before they try to exploit her. The world could fall into chaos because of her.”

“Chaos? Is it that serious?”

“She’s a girl who can create Legend-grade items without realizing their true value. She even evaded the guards I hired to protect her.”

A theory formed in Tina’s mind as she considered all the facts.

“Perhaps she’s like you and Luna — she might be a transmigrator.”

“A transmigrator, huh?”

Halt hadn’t been particularly interested in the girl before, but the idea that she might be a transmigrator caught his attention.

“Did you get the girl’s name?”

“Yes. I also have a surveillance crystal in my office at the company. You can see her face for yourself.”

Tina pulled out a magical tool that recorded images and projected the image of the black-haired girl who had visited her earlier in the day.

“Her name is Akari.”
