Chapter 56 - Party

Each dormitory was built for two people, and the only other person who could enter the place was Fang. However, she knew that Fang left early for the weekend and never expected him to return to the dorm. Panicked, she shouted, “Don’t come in!”

“Come out quickly then; I have to talk to you about something important before I go.”

“Just wait a bit longer!” Hurriedly, Scarlett finished washing, put on clean clothes, and after wiping her face once again, opened the door.

An impatient expression stayed on Fang’s face as he complained, “Blue, you take so long when you’re in the bathroom. What do you do in there?”

“I like long showers; do you have a problem with that?” Blue scowled at Fang. “Why are you here?”

“Ah, last week when I met with Mii, she said that her roommate is hosting a birthday party and would like to invite you as well. If you’re free later today, why don’t you come with me and Mii?” He knew that Blue was introverted, and ever since his roommate had come to this college, they’d always head back to their relative’s house every weekend.

“Her roommate? Tracy?” Blue faintly recognized the name but didn’t recall being close to her at all. “I don’t know her; why did she invite me?”

“Maybe she likes you?” Fang shrugged. “Mii said that Tracy broke up with her boyfriend, and you look pretty attractive.”

“She looks disgusting.” Although Blue had seen Tracy once when visiting with Fang, she instantly recognized the large amounts of powder applied to her face. She couldn’t help but compare her skin with Tracy’s and thought that much makeup was repulsive.

Fang frowned at her. “She’s inviting you specifically, and it’s not like she’s doing it out of malice. I think you should go; after all, you stand a better chance compared to your unrequited love, Scarlett.”

Inside his heart, he sighed. Fang wished that Blue would take the opportunity instead of going for someone unattainable. Having someone to love, and who loves back, would make Blue happy for sure and fix those weird quirks that Blue had.

However, today was not the day. Immediately, rage stirred up in Blue as she stared at him. “You… bastard!”

Seeing that anger, Fang started to back away towards the door. “I didn’t mean that about you and Scarlett… since you’re not willing to go, I’ll come up with an excuse.”

As he reached the door, Blue shouted, “Wait!”

He turned around. “What?”

“I changed my mind. You’re right; I should go after all.”

Puzzled, Fang looked at Blue but kept his questions to himself.

“Don’t misunderstand, it’s not because I’m interested in Tracy.”

“Well, she’ll probably be happy anyway.” He quickly told her the address and left the room.

A smile crept onto Blue’s face. The intention behind Tracy’s invitation was obvious—from a single glance, she noticed the belittling attitude Tracy had towards Fang when she visited with him.

With the small, tiny influence that female magician might have, there would surely be an interesting event at the party, and how could she miss that?

---

Blazing lights lit up the city, a glistening pearl amidst the dark sea of black that enveloped the ground. Tracy’s family was quite wealthy within Minuet City, so the location of the party was a luxurious building.

The entire structure, adorned with green and gold stone, dazzled in the air as the silver moonlight hit the surface, illuminating the hall below. Beside the hall was a fast-flowing stream that accompanied the delicate atmosphere as it gently crashed through the rocks in its path. Extravagance seeped through every corner, with figures chatting inside the hall dressed gracefully. It was impossible to compare this to the dwarven bar Fang had visited previously.

Upon arriving at the front of the grand hall, Fang and Mii gasped at the amount of wealth it must have taken to construct such a place.

In contrast, Blue looked indifferent. She didn’t care; this place was full of boredom in her memories.

The party of three passed through the entrance into the main hall. Similar to the other guests present, Tracy was beautifully attired, obscuring her true appearance like her personality.

A warm welcome flew out from Tracy as she made her way to them. “Mii, you came!”

“Happy birthday, Tracy!” Mii gave her a hug.

“What do you think of the place? Isn’t it great? It’s one of the most difficult places to reserve in the entire city!” Tracy proudly said. Her father was a renowned magician, and even with his connections, it was somewhat hard to book the place. Still, seeing the satisfied looks on the guests made her feel that it was worth the trouble and boosted her social status.

Taking a glance at Fang, Tracy’s eyes held a bit of hatred. He didn’t fit in at all with his ordinary clothes. Everyone else had their appearance perfected for the party; it was just him.

Although Mii also wore simple clothing, it didn’t matter. With the beauty Mii had, she’d attract attention regardless of what she wore. And Blue, well, she appeared handsome, pleasing the eyes with both her style and looks.

Her eyes fell again on the sore thumb. Fang, you don’t belong here at all!
